NCYC General Membership Meeting Minutes Page 6 of 7
meetings. Each member would have a chance to comment on the minutes at that meeting. Seconded by Kim Miedema. Discussion followed. Motion Carried. Rana Shepperson asked the membership for help in her walk for the American Diabetes Association. She will be doing a 5K walk at the Detroit Zoo. She is not asking for monetary donations, with the board’s approval she will be collecting cans and bottles this weekend, with all proceeds going to the diabetes fund. If you have cans or bottles at your home, she will gladly pick them up. Don Shepperson reminded everyone that when exiting the East harbor you must sound your horn. Boats exiting the East Harbor do not have the right of way, they must give way to the Robison There have been many near misses of smaller boats on the Robison not seeing the boats exiting the harbor. Also, as a safety concern, please do not unscrew the bulbs on the docks. If the light bothers you, then put a bucket over the light so it shines down on the walkway. Please do not cut the circuit breakers on the water shed as this takes out the navigation lights in the harbor. PC Harley Burris stated that it is not too early to think about next year. He is looking for week managers for next year. It is a good chance to see first hand how the club is run. Kim Miedema reminded all of the new members to see her about getting their pictures taken for the roster for next year. Rae Ann Whyard wanted to thank PC Hugh and Mary Vestal and PC Pete Beecherl for helping with the debt reduction horse race fund raiser. PC Rick Romatz wanted everyone to know that ABYA will be going back to Midland next year. The theme next year will be horse racing. Art Brooks noted that NCYC was one of the founding members of the ABYA. With that said he is looking for NCYC members to run for the ABYA board. Diane French stated that she is the chairman for the by-laws committee. She will send out a fan out about new changes for the junior members. Please read it and think about it because it will be on the ballot. RC Brian McEvoy reminded everyone that we will have junior members for bartenders on Saturday night.
