Jettys Journal - August 2017

RESIDENT ACT IVITIES

July started out great on Sunday 2/7/17. We had 16 starters, great weather and it was also our pizza Sunday. Good games followed by a good lunch. At the time of writing this report we have had to cancel 2 croquet days due to high winds, I'm sure the August winds are early again. Unfortunately, another day, Wednesday 12/2/17 was also cancelled due to AGM's being held in the village by 4 different groups. At our AGM, Dave Maidman stood down as Treasurer after having held the position since day one. Thanks Dave, for all your hard work over so many years. Hopefully your health improves and we begin to see you more often at our games. I was re-elected as Captain, Arthur Felvus has made a return, this time as Treasurer and Mick Vekar was re-elected as Vice Captain. Our thoughts and best wishes go out to 2 of our members, Frances Cartwright and John Williams,

both have not been well and we wish you both speedy recoveries. A previous member, Jim Puckeridge, has made a return to croquet and has quickly got back into the swing of things showing that the skills have never left. We also welcome a new member, Michael Halikos who is already scoring his share of hoops. JUST A REMINDER THAT $5 MEMBERSHIP FEES ARE NOW DUE. Our playing times are 9.30am on Sundays and Wednesdays. We also play twilight croquet on Fridays at 2.30pm. Friday is just for fun and practise, so bring along a drink or two and enjoy yourself. Until next month,

Not much to report on the Ukulele front. But we still have a dedicated band of strummers we have just go one gig for next month at the Farmborough Care Centre at Unanderra. Last month

we played at the “Figtree’s” at Figtree and got a wonderful reception. We had high tea in the Green Room (that’s show biz talk) and then played for the residents. A great afternoon all round. If there is anyone out there that would like to sing with us you don’t need to play then you would be made very welcome. Just contact me Arf at site 206 or ring me 0424768684
