Description Confluence in partnership with USAquatics, MSR Architects and PROS Consulting, have been working on a redesign of SandVenture in the contect of the future possible reconfiguration of Lions Park. The SandVenture concept would result in a facility that could be used all year with many new amenities including cabanas, added waterslide, climbing walls, boardwalk, pergulas and landscaping improvements. There are plans for a facility that the city could lease to a private operator in cooperation with the city to activate the space at night for private events, during winter and serving the surrounding community. Justification Staff collected comments through a Social Pinpoint survey and also met with user groups and incorporated many of the comments received. The larger goal is to make this signature park a year around experience for a multitude of users. Total Project Cost: $5,100,000

Budget Impact/Other Potential funding scenarios will be presented to City Council along with updated design and cost estimates late summer 2022. The Buildings fund currently contains $1.4 million of accumulated funds related to Sand Venture from previous internal rent charges. Additional funding could come from combination of funding from the Local Projects Capital Project fund and future internal charges.
