PUBLIC WORKS

ARBOR DAY 2018

Street sweeping to start with snow melt BY THE NUMBERS ... 2 Number of city street sweepers 3 Tons of debris collected Each spring, Public Works sweeps streets to minimize the salt and sand residue, sticks and other winter debris that runs off into the storm sewer system and ultimately the Minnesota River. The collector streets, downtown area and other business areas are swept first, followed by residential streets. Sweeping generally takes six weeks to complete. Did you know? Most streets require four passes to sweep the complete street.

NEWS & NOTES Canterbury Road to close at Highway 101 in April Drivers who regularly take County Highway 83 (Canterbury Road) to County Highway 101 should start planning a detour route. Canterbury Road will be closed between Highway 101 and Valley Industrial Boulevard South from April to August as Scott County reconstructs the road segment and adds turn lanes for a possible future signal. Traffic will then be restricted to one lane into the fall. More information about the project is available on the Scott County website. SMSC to offer free Sunday yard waste collection Shakopee residents will again have the opportunity to dispose of yard waste free of charge from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays in April and May, starting April 8.
