The Shakopee Tennis Association staff has experience, skill and a family oriented foundation. We are dedicated to moving tennis beyond a game of skill into a game for life. We believe our tennis programs will provide the atmosphere for a healthy and enjoyable experience while meeting potential lifelong friends. YOUTH TENNIS LESSONS Lessons are divided by age and ability and are structured in a drill and play format with an emphasis on technique, stroke and skill development. Player/coach ratio is 10:1 or less. For beginning players 10 and under, we use the QuickStart training method. Through our youth tennis lessons, our goal is to provide a safe and exciting tennis environment for children to begin enjoying the game of tennis while making new friends and learning from an energetic and encouraging coaching staff. The youth lesson program provides instruction for beginners and intermediate players in a structured lesson format. ShakopeeWest Jr. High Tennis Courts, 200 10th Ave E.

SHAKOPEE TENNIS TEAMS This competitive program is for players to develop their skills as well as match play experience. Players are divided by skill level and age and placed on co-ed teams of 6-12 players. As the players grow into their skills, the format is adapted to best meet their needs. It is a combination of practice and match play with an emphasis on skill/stroke development, match play strategy, teamwork and friendly competition. The local season consists of competition against other teams of similar age and ability level. The team tennis season culminates with a local tournament in Shakopee.
