The Shakopee Fire Department has introduced a new community engagement tool called Community Connect to protect residents, businesses, and their property. Community Connect is a platform that allows community members and businesses to provide information about their property so Shako pee Fire and rescue crews can make faster, more informed decisions during emergency responses at that address. Users have full control over what data they choose to provide and can update or delete their profiles at any time. Once a profile is created, users can share critical information about their household/business. This includes contact information, whether pets are in the building, if there are any people in the household with functional needs, if there’s a smoke detection system that can alert the Fire Department, and more. The Community Connect platform allows firefighters to respond to an emergency more effectively. Knowing potential challenges upfront can save time and help our firefighters respond armed with informa tion. With Community Connect, residents have already assisted us in accomplishing that crucial and time-consuming step. We can now walk in the front door and immediately start to learn exactly what is wrong at that moment. This can save crucial minutes when every minute counts! Information provided through Community Connect is secured by bank-level encryption to protect your information. Only Shakopee Fire personnel have access to the information. Community Connect is one of the best ways to put these critical details in the hands of fire fighters from the moment we get a call, giving us a better chance for a positive outcome. For more info or to sign up to access Community Connect, visit ShakopeeMN.gov/communityconnect .
Join the Shakopee police for a night of community, food, and games Mark your calendars for the evening of Monday, June 8, for the annual Picnic with Police at Huber Park.
This picnic has become one of our most anticipated events of the year, and we can’t wait to make memories with community members! From 5–8 p.m. June 8, join Shakopee police officers for free food, yard games, prizes, and entertainment. Residents are invited to bring toiletries to donate for Saber Nation Station, a resource room in Shakopee High School where everything is free for students in need. This event is in partnership with Hosanna Church, HEART (a ministry of Hosanna Church) and Mi Casa.
