already died. Before dying, they reconsidered. That’s why I move from flat to flat. I’m a renter.

The building I rent in isn’t big. Three stories high, three stories wide, with three entrances. I get into the building through the middle entrance. On the first floor – only one flat. The old building dwellers say that a thirty-something couple lived there and raised a cat. Now, there’s a thirty- something couple raising a child. “Did they throw out the cat when the child was born?” I ask. “Ya, ya,” say the old building dwellers. The cat, apparently, did not understand, and comes to their door every day. It meows, wails, pees in the corner, and leaves.

Cats never pee where they sleep, and now he sleeps on the street.
