Today in the newspaper: In seventeen years a giant asteroid may strike the earth. US scientists discovered it in the sky in the beginning of July. Some scientists are convinced that it can send humanity back to the stone age. This asteroid is the most threatening object that has been ever seen in space – it is two kilometers in diameter and is flying toward the earth. According to calculations, the asteroid could hit the earth on February 1st, 2019. According to my calculations, if I now borrow money from the bank and buy a flat, then I would finish paying off the mortgage only in August of 2017. But if I don’t buy it now and wait until 2017, would I still have to pay back the mortgage when the asteroid strikes?

Interesting.

I call the bank. They say, you would have to pay it back even if the asteroid falls directly onto your flat.
