Needlefish their table. Zo didn’t seem perturbed. After dunking the beer and exhibiting his bobbing Adam’s apple to them, he spoke.
- Fine, but Falkensee is far, it’s hard to get back from there.
- It’s no problem. You can stay at mine tonight.
Zo likely thought that the man was a dealer. Maybe a nut that wanted to share what he had with the first people he saw. No matter what, he was ready to follow Needlefish to the other end of Berlin and the world. Koma wasn’t such an easy prey. He was paranoid enough to have thought about suggesting a blood test to determine if his own parents were really his own. If he had accepted every polite invitation he and his entire family would long have been deported.
- Needlefish is a weird name, murmured Koma.
- I know. But that’s not the only weird thing about me.
Andy Warhol was also famous for being a man of few words, but Needlefish, with his indeterminate nationality, said not oneword more or less than necessary. Koma was getting mad. Really mad. He’d gone into many tunnels with darkness at their end. He had stayed with many people whose names he had never found out, even slept with some. But the near-two-meter shadow next to him was a complete alien.
