In our midst are these eyes Hasan’s eyes Selahattin’s eyes Ece’s eyes I was talking to Seyhan and when, nearing the end, his father wore a stare like Ece’s, my father’s look at his childhood seemed to plead “don’t leave me” Roaming through our souls are eyes don’t crash into them as you look don’t shatter them as you pass by those eyes are our poetry our toasty bread what’s left from childhood both father and son, those eyes
