Lilja Sigurðardóttir TE22-04

Lilja Sigurðardóttir (born 1972) is an Icelandic detective-fiction author and playwright. Her novels mostly take place in Reykjavic and have been widely translated. Palomar Pictures has purchased the film rights to the noir trilogy consisting of Snare , Trap , and Cage . Manuel Baixauli (born 1963 in Sueca, Spain) is a Spanish painter and Catalan-language author. He dedicates his time to teaching painting and writing. His novel, L’home manuscrit , has won various prizes including the 2006 Premi Mallorca da Narrative , the Premi Salambó de Narrative en Català in 2008, and, in the same year, the Premi Nacional de la Crítica Catalana . Michèle Rakotoson TE22-01

Michèle Rakotoson (born 1948, in Antananarivo, Madagascar) is a Malagasi writer, playwright, and journalist. In 1983, she moved to Paris, France where she has spent most of her life since. She was awarded the grande médaille de la francophonie by the Académie française in 2012 for her work. In addition to her creative projects, Rakotoson has also established writing groups and workshops in Madagascar for emerging writers.

Jacek Gutorow (born 1970 in Grodków, Poland) is a poet, critic university professor, and translator. He began publishing in 1993 in NaGłos magazine. He currently lives in Opole where he works at the University of Opole.

Isabelle Baladine Howald TE22-06

IsabelleBaladineHowald (born 1957) currently lives inStrasbourg, France. She studied philosophy, which has greatly influenced her poetry. She has been publishing since 1985, her first collection being Nuit d’amour, un livre .

Kathrin Schmidt TE22-03

Kathrin Schmidt (born 1958 in Gotha, Germany) began publishing poetry as a teenager, later expanding to novels and tales. In 2002, Schmidt suffered a stroke and lost her ability to speak, leading to the writing and publication of her 2009 German Book Prize-awarded novel You’re Not Dying , excerpted here. Kathrin currently lives in Berlin with her husband and children.
