I resembled my friends, my companions, my lovers, all of them contemporaries in a society that would soon be completely and universally materialist. Merchandise came from all over the world and was sent all over the world. It intruded on us. Because for the first time in History, we were, as a young generation, able to buy things. We were called ‘the young’ and we were unaware of how much derision this label contained. We became customers, ‘targets’.
