OFF THE MARK
A friend accused me of talking too much about images without ever getting to the crux of the issue. By “crux of the issue” he meant erotic images as a paradigm of the power pictures wield over their viewers. And—he went on—you never talk about ads: we’re all surrounded by gigantic images the size of buildings and you keep getting lost amid childhood memories and books nobody cares about anymore.
