About the Authors

Michel Layaz MICHEL LAYAZ (born in Fribourg, 1963) taught for several years and ran a contemporary art gallery in Paris, before devoting himself fulltime to writing in 1992. His twelve works of fiction and several radio plays have been widely celebrated and have established him as one of the most important writers in Switzerland. He has been praised for his flowing, elegiac style and his sensitive portrayal of “adolescent wounds, badly healed and never forgotten; latent rebellion, destined for sudden explosion; the violence that lurks in the secret depths of the most loving relationships—especially between parents and their children; and love’s fragile redemptions, all the more valuable for their rarity.” Klaus Merz KLAUS MERZ (born in Aarau, 1945) is one of the most prolific and versatile Swiss writers writing today. He worked as a teacher before devoting himself full-time to writing. He has written more than two dozen volumes
