Marat Baskin (born Belarus, 1946) writes short stories about people he knew in his home town, one of the few remaining Jewish shtetls in the former Soviet (now Belorussian) territory. Louis Armand (born Sydney, 1972) is a writer, visual artist and critical theorist. He has lived in Prague since 1994. He has published eight novels, and his poetry has appeared in several notable anthologies. In 1997 he received the Max Harris prize for poetry at the Penola Festival (Adelaide)and in2000hewasawardedtheNassau Review Prize (New York).
