HAYDAR ERGÜLEN ten poems

Haydar Ergülen (born in Eskişehir, Turkey, 1956) is one of Istanbul’s leading poets. He has a degree in Sociology from Middle Eastern Technical University and a Master’s degree from Eskişehir Anadolu University in Marketing and Public Relations. He penned the regular column “Open Letters” for the dailyRadikal and has contributed widely to BirGün and Cumhuriyet . Hedirects the Izmir International Poetry Festival, the Eskişehir Tepebaşı International Poetry Festival, and the Nazım Hikmet International Poetry Event in Istanbul. He attends poetry festivals and translationworkshops throughout Europe and leads creative writing workshops in Istanbul. He has been teachingpoetryat Boğaziçi University, KadirHas, and Bahçeşehir universities. He has twenty-one books of poetry published in Turkey, including two for children, along with numerous books of essays and criticism. He has won the Halil Kocagöz Poetry Prize; the Behçet Necatigil Poetry Prize; the Cahit Külebi Special Prize; the Akdeniz Altın Portakal Poetry Prize; the Cemal Süreya Poetry Prize; the Metin Altıok Poetry Prize and the City of Mersin Prize for Literature.
