“Sandals? I was judging more from his T-shirt.”
“Ok, enough vetting. Just find me someone who can come with us! - Hey, you there, are you a shooter? We need another damage dealer for the final quest, come on…” The girl left him standing there and ran up to a guy dressed in a black army suit, who was avoiding all eye contact and hurried away from them. Zack started heading towards the gate that led outside. He was trying his best to stay cool, even though he had absolutely no idea how to find Lachlan or Emil among these masses. He saw even more tree folk and was mesmerized by a flute player conjuring up dancing ghosts and surrounded by enthusiastic spectators.
“Hi, Zachary.”
Aman stopped him in his tracks, almost colliding with him. For a very short time they stood opposite each other, face to face. Zack backed away. The man was as tall as he was, with short black hair, narrow crescent eyes, and striking ears.
Zack felt his heart sink. “You,” he said in a cool voice.
“I don’t suppose that I have to introducemyself again. You already know who I am.”
The man’s voice was unmistakably Emil’s. Unlike in the park, this time he was not wearing a leather jacket, but a black buttoned-
