Grace Nichols

Grace Nichols (born in Georgetown, Guyana in 1950) gains inspiration from her Caribbean roots, specifically Guyanese rhythms, culture, and folklore. She immigrated to England in 1977 and began her poetry career there. Her first collection, I is a Long-Memoried Woman , was released in 1973 and won the Commonwealth Poetry Prize. In addition to her writing, Nichols was also judge in the “Anthologise” poetry competition to support writing of Poetry in UK schools. She has published over a dozen collections. Matthias Nawrat Matthias Nawrot (born in Opole, Poland in 1979) has lived in Germany since 1989 and is identified as a German author. His first novel, Wir zwei allein ( The Two of Us Alone ) was published in 2012 and earned him the Literaturpreis of the Kanton of Bern and the Adelbert von Chamisso Prize. Much of his work focuses on his family history and the intersection between biography and fiction. TE 20-2
