About the Authors

Vesna Marić TE23-11

Vesna Marić (b. 1976 in Mostar, Bosnia-Herzogovina) left her country at sixteen as a refugee. She works for the BBC World Service, translates Croatian into English, and writes for The Guardian. The President Shop is her first novel.

Gaetano Savatteri TE23-12

Gaetano Savatteri (b. 1964 in Milan, Italy) is a journalist and writer. He began writing professionally for the Giornale di Sicilia , a newspaper based in Palermo, in 1987, and in 1991 he moved to Rome to work as a correspondent for L’Indipendente . He made his novelistic debut in 2000 with the novel La congiura dei loquaci .

TE23-13 Andrea Tompa

Andrea Tompa (b. 1971 in Cluj-Napoca, Romania) is a Hungarian author. She studied Russian literature in Hungary and worked as a theater critic. She has also worked as an editor and lecturer on performing arts. She has published four novels to date. She currently lives in Budapest.
