Hike the most spectacular trails beneath Switzerland’s famous peaks.
Hike the high trails of the Jungfrau region, a UNESCO World Heritage Site recognized for its beauty and rich cultural traditions. Our adventure brings us great views of the awesome North Face of the Eiger from the famous Eiger Trail, and we’ll cross some of the most majestic alpine passes in the Alps. Our overnights are spectacular, including one in the famed hotel right at the foot of the Eiger, the perfect perch for our hike into the sublime Lauterbrunnen Valley. We’ll enjoy “hiker’s hikes” each day and atmospheric villages each night, including Grindelwald, Mürren, and Kandersteg. If you love stunning hikes and alpine splendor, this is the adventure for you! to Surenenpass (7,560') with a descent to Engelberg (3,248'), a classic village beneath ice-crowned Mt. Titlis, stopping en route at a summer hut where delicious cheese is made. Hiking a balcony trail along the Gental Valley, we drop down to genteel Meiringen, a great spot for our hike to the Tierbergli Hütte for glacier views—or a rest day if you prefer! for our hike along the dramatic Eiger Trail. We overnight at the turn-of-the-century hotel right on the pass in Kleine Scheidegg (6,760'), the early “base camp” for climbers attempting to scale the Eiger. It’s beautifully remote and a very special treat. Days 7-8 Lauterbrunnen / Mürren We hike down into the breathtaking Lauterbrunnen Valley, a glacial ravine traced by waterfalls and enclosed by sheer cliffs. Our charming hotel in Mürren has a great restaurant and fantastic Jungfrau views—from the terrace, we’ll enjoy a wonderful sunset on this world-famous peak and its snow-capped comrades. Days 9-11 Sefinenfurke Pass / Kandersteg Panoramas are breathtaking as we hike over dramatic Sefinenfurke Pass (8,600'), with a spectacular descent into the end-of-the-road hamlet of Griesalp. Our final hike brings us up to Hohtürli Pass and past glaciers to surreal Lake Oeschinensee, set in an amphitheater of cliffs. Depart on Day 11.
