Everest Base Camp ONE OF THE GREAT TREKS OF THE WORLD

Trek to Everest Base Camp, the renowned climbers’ camp below the icy majesty of Mt. Everest (29,035')! Our perfectly paced trek includes special Exploration Days along the way that add adventure as they help you acclimatize. Atop the hikers’ peak of Kala Patar (18,365'), you’ll have epic views of Everest’s Southwest Face and the Khumbu Glacier, the world’s highest glacier, and you’ll hike right to base camp at 17,600 feet, where the sheer Khumbu Icefall makes a spectacular backdrop. Our Trek Leaders, who were born in this celebrated region, bring us into the heart of Sherpa culture, and our private cook staff keeps us well fueled for the adventure. This is the way to experience the top of the world! Days 1-6 Kathmandu / Lukla / Namche / Tengboche We visit the temples of Kathmandu, then fly to Lukla and hike through the Sherpa villages of Namche Bazaar, Khunde, and Khumjung, enjoying spectacular Himalayan panoramas. Trails through rhododendron forests lead us to ridgetop Tengboche Monastery, spiritual center of the Sherpa people. Overnights are in Sherpa lodges.

Days 7-11 Pangboche / Ama Dablam Base Camp / Chukhung Valley Our special Exploration Days bring us from the lovely old village of Pangboche up to Ama Dablam Base Camp, with its soaring views of Ama Dablam (22,349'), and from the village of Dingboche (14,100') to the small settlement of Chukhung (15,584') and Island Peak Base Camp (16,690'). Days 12-13 Kala Patar / Everest Base Camp From the summit ridge of Kala Patar (18,365'), we enjoy uninterrupted views of the highest mountain on Earth and all the snowy Himalayan giants that surround it, plus the option to hike to Everest Base Camp. Days 14-20 Lukla / Kathmandu Descending the Khumbu Valley, we enjoy the tranquility of Phortse, home of the Khumbu Climbing School for Sherpas, which Wilderness Travel supports. Continue to Namche and down to Lukla, fly to Kathmandu on Day 18, and depart on Day 20.
