Experts in their destination—naturalists, art historians, photographers, mountaineers—they have a remarkable gift for sharing their knowledge and introducing you to favorite behind-the-scenes spots you won’t find in any guidebook. Our leaders are highly skilled professionals, yet they are also wonderfully warm people who have endless energy and are great fun. Here are just a few of our extraordinary leaders. José Argento José began exploring Patagonia’s mountains when he was just a teenager and loves sharing his stories and knowledge of both the natural and human history of the region. In the off season, he does volunteer work monitoring green sea turtles in Costa Rica and Spain. He’s also a very accomplished equestrian (and polo player!) who made the 18-day journey from the Atlantic Coast to the Andes on horseback, following in the footsteps of Darwin.
Kinley Gyeltshen When Bhutan first opened its doors to the outside world, Kinley was among the first to be selected for guide training—mastering extensive studies in Buddhist iconography, culture, history, and botany. With 30 years of experience leading trips, he is equally adept at explaining the traditional arts of Bhutan as he is navigating high-altitude passes en route to sacred Mt. Chomolhari.
