South Africa’s beauty is legendary, from the Cape Peninsula to the mighty Drakensberg mountains and game-rich savannas of Greater

We’ll experience it all on this active adventure, hiking on iconic Table Mountain, on the spectacular Cape Coast, and through the Drakensberg (“Dragon Mountains”), where we’ll find San rock paintings. In Timbavati, with its unfenced boundary with Greater Kruger, we’re on the lookout for lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and Cape buffalo— Africa’s Big Five—on a thrilling safari. Boutique lodgings, a wonderful range of activities, and great wines and cuisine make this trip superb in every way. Days 1-3 Cape Town / Cape Peninsula / Table Mountain / Kirstenbosch We explore the Cape Peninsula with a hike at breathtaking Cape Point, stopping in for a visit to the tiny African penguins at Boulders Beach. After enjoying the views from Table Mountain, we explore majestic Kirstenbosch, one of the great botanical gardens of the world. Days 4-6 Drakensberg Mountains The landscape of the Drakensberg is an extraordinary fantasia of cliffs, buttresses, and sharp ridges. Amid the splendor of this World Heritage Site, we have a choice of hikes amid dramatic rock formations and to rock art sites.
