DAYS 3-4 MARIA LA GORDA / GUANAHACABIBES From Havana, visit the Quisicuaba Community to learn about Afro-Cuban culture, then sail toward Maria La Gorda. On Day 4, meet with a specialist at Guanahacabibes National Park, one of the country’s largest nature reserves, and visit a local school and beekeeper. DAYS 5-6 CAYO LARGO / TRINIDAD On the island of Cayo Largo, begin your day with an engaging discussion with an expert on Cuban culture, then visit a clinic to meet with a doctor and learn about Cuba’s medical system. Later, a diving and conservation specialist offers a presentation on the preservation of the coral reefs and virgin keys of Cuba, and you’ll visit a sea- turtle breeding center and the Avalon fly- fishing center. A short sail brings you to the white-sand beaches of Cayo Rico Virgin Key for snorkeling and a late lunch on the beach. Tonight, set sail for Trinidad and awake the next day in this well-preserved Spanish
historic city center with a specialist, then make your way to a special performance by the Choir of Cienfuegos. You’ll even have the chance to talk with the choir members post-performance. After a typical Cuban barbecue lunch at a local restaurant, you can join a salsa lesson with fellow passengers—a wonderful way to cap off your Cuba adventure. Disembark and fly to Miami on Day 8. DAYS 7-8 CIENFUEGOS Disembark for a visit to elegant and historic Cienfuegos, known as the “Pearl of the South” and the only city in Cuba to be founded by French settlers. In 2005, the historic center was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Among buildings of particular interest are the ornate Government Palace, with its huge dome, and the Ferrer Palace, which shows a Catalan influence. You’ll walk the
