These communities offer meal programs and typically have a focus on social and recreational activ ities. Retirement Communities differ greatly in terms of services and amenities offered. continuing care Retirement communities (ccRc’s): The term Continuing Care Retirement Community or CCRC refers to a facility or campus setting that is able to respond to an individ ual’s need for differing lev els of care as needs change. The levels of care typically include independent living and skilled nursing care. These services may also be augmented by assisted or supportive living, home health care and/or adult day services, allowing one to select the level of care most appropriate for the individual’s changing cir cumstances. Many aspects of Continuing Care appeal to seniors and their families,
but the usual motivator is the knowledge that one has the assurance of a highly qualified group of services if any or all of these should be needed in the future. Services are tailored to individual needs, but typi cally include meals, housekeeping, transporta tion, personal assistance, recreational and educa tional activities. health care services are at the heart of the continuing care concept. These ser vices may include an emergency response sys tem, resident health clinic, wellness programs, health education, hospice ser vices, nursing advice, physician services (prima ry and specialty), podiatry services, dental services, pharmacy services, thera pies, assisted living, and nursing care. Most CCRC’s use an endowment fee (non refundable) or an entrance fee (refundable) to help keep monthly fees lower. These up front fees pro
