It was a really positive experience for the community. Traditionally held during the Advent season, Christkindli (translated Christ child) markets feature cozy stalls of handmade holiday decorations, food, drink, and a festive atmosphere. Stauffacher and volunteers wanted to bring that magic to downtown New Glarus. Market vendors set up in small chalet stalls for “that old-world feel.” From holidays gifts and toys to decorations and clothing, there was something for everyone. Not to mention food stands with bratwurst, bakery, and drinks. Plus, alphorn players performed Christmas carols, there were free horse and sleigh rides, live carolers entertained visitors, and Santa himself was the guest of honor.
