MONTICELLO CHAMBER monticello-chamber.com Monticello

Small town charm. A thriving main street. A public garden and a spring-fed artesian lake with the catch of the day. That's the short list of what makes Monticello a great place to live, work, and visit. Downtown Monticello has plenty to brag about – with the hometown grocery store (excellent

deli and pizza) and several pubs. You definitely won't go away hungry! Some of your dining options are Java Lava (strong coffee, lunch, snacks, outside seating and free wifi), M&M Café (homemade soup and freshly baked pie, burgers and sandwiches), Pink Heifer Saloon & Smokehouse (the meat is the star of the show at this BBQ spot, and everyone raves about the sides), JonnyO's Pizzeria (pizza, pasta, wings and salads), and King's Bar and Grill (seasonal cocktails, fish fry on Fridays, and live music in their outdoor beer garden). From grand openings to Monticello Money “shop local” promotions, the Monticello Chamber of Commerce boosts local businesses and supports community organizations. Members meet up monthly to network, share expertise, develop ideas to put the spotlight on businesses and community initiatives. The chamber also sponsors a Holiday Decorating Contest. Locals and visitors alike enjoy Montesian Gardens – planted and maintained by volunteers. Picnic tables, benches, and a gazebo add to the welcoming atmosphere, and flags will be flying over Monticello Veterans Memorial. Lake Montesian offers scenic beauty and recreation for all seasons. Visit in early to mid-May to see the splendor of more than 100 crab apple trees blooming by the lake. All summer you'll see people paddling kayaks, and enjoying lakeside picnics. It's the perfect spot for kids to learn how to cast a line from one of the fishing piers. The winter freeze brings ice fishermen to the lake – along with the tradition of Monticello Community Club's “Chickeree” with that famous barbecued chicken – read all about it on page 8. Embrace the green space! The Badger State Trail and Sugar River State Trail intersect just east of Monticello. The trail is open for bikers, hikers, and snowmobilers. Check out the map on page 9. South of town – take the back roads to Parrfection Farm Market. This market is known for farm fresh goodness in all seasons. New in spring of 2023 – 10,000 tulips will be blooming!
