AWA is for cultural heritage, history, art, music, valuable information and memories in digital form - that is of importance for the world, regions, nations, institutions, organisations and corporations as well as people.

Thursday February 26th 2026, AWA will open its doors for another depositing ceremony.

Deposit Ceremony We will be hosting an intimate ceremony at the vault, only a short drive from Longyearbyen, where we invite all depositors to a celebratory dinner the same evening. You can also try out the local sauna and have a bath in the Arctic ocean or take a local tour.

AWA is home to manuscripts from the Vatican Library, official documents, museum masterpieces, scientific breakthroughs, literature, music, digital art, priceless, irreplaceable data and the writings of Nobel laureates. Surrounded by majestic mountains and gigantic glaciers on the Arctic island of Svalbard, Norway, the archive contains and can maintain man’s history and accomplishments on earth for over 2000 years with guaranteed future accessibility.

Meet & Greet in Longyearbyen

Timeline

We recommend that you book your flights and hotel rooms as soon as possible since there are limited flights and hotel rooms.

T he airlines SAS and Norwegian both fly to Longyearbyen, Svalbard from Oslo and to take part in the AWA deposit ceremony, you must arrive latest on Wednesday 25th and return earliest on Friday 27th, unless you would like to stay for the weekend in the beautiful arctic wilderness. We recommend you to book your room at Funken Lodge or you can check availability for other hotels in Longyearbyen at hotels.com. For more information and registration send an e-mail to info@arcticworldarchive.org. We will send you a payment link for the attendance fee.

Deposit programme: February 25th 12.00 - Deposit at the Svalbard Global Seed Vault. 18.00 - Meet & greet

9.00 - Taxi pick-up outside hotel 9.30 - Deposit ceremony in AWA 13.00 -Svalbad sauna & swimming in the Arctic Ocean or a guided tour in Longyearbyen 20.00 - Celebratory dinner Attendance fee for activities € 600 per person
