Location

Geographical zone: North (North America). Parts of the region are situated on the so-called Pacific Ring of Fire, an area very prone to earthquakes due to the positioning of tectonic plates. The earthquakes are often of a considerable size. The developmental level of the continent is high and the political climate is stable. The piqlVault is situated in an urban area, in the business district in the downtown area surrounded by skyscrapers in close proximity. The scenario takes place in the present. The time period is 0-30/50 years, as the user is business non-sensitive. The scenario is also a risk for the future, so long as the construction of buildings is unable to mitigate one hundred per cent the effects of earthquakes. The climate zone is a subtropical climate. It is summer, in the middle of July. The local weather conditions are hot and humid: 39° Celsius with a relative humidity of 90 %. These high levels have great effect on the piqlFilm when the ventilation system stops functioning. It is a warm and humid day, as the region is in the middle of a heat wave where temperatures frequently exceed 40° Celsius. The incident takes place during the last morning office hours. The scenario takes place while the piqlFilm is in storage in the piqlVault. The piqlVault system is placed in a storage room located on the 32 nd floor of an office building (skyscraper).
