Simple and reliable system Using an air system offers advantages as it has a simpler design compared to the design of a hydraulic system. The air system does not use return lines when activating functions. This gives a reliable system with fewer compo- nents. A gear-driven, piston air compressor supplies air for the exhaust retarder, differential locks, 6-wheel drive, horn, operator’s seat, parking brake and service brakes. The air compressor has a liquid-cooled head, air-cooled block, and lubrication from the engine. An air dryer reduces need for maintenance as there’s no longer a need for any anti-freeze fluid.
