1864 - Civil War Drags On
The Civil War timeline for 1864 will reflect the Union hopes for victory is damaged, even with the Union success finally achieved during the Civil War timeline of the previous year including the victories at Gettysburg and Vicksburg. We will see that this terrible war, however, is far from over as some of the most savage fighting of the war still lies ahead. Confederate diplomats continue to speak of “Two countries ~ North and South” while ignoring the slavery issue. Speeches led by Horace Greeley, editor of the New York Tribune has the nation losing support for President Abraham Lincoln. With the president's upcoming re-election year, and shrinking support for President Abraham Lincoln, 1864 will be the decisive year. Lincoln knows he must continue the fight to “Save the Union”.
