resided at the Cedar Motor Lodge and ate at the Garden Center Restaurant next-door and went to work at the Semiconductor Division about a mile away. After accepting a permanent job there, I later moved to nearby downtown Greensburg, PA and lived at 110 Alwine Avenue for a couple of years. Later, I moved back to Youngwood into a new six-unit townhouse apartment. My rent was $130 per month for the two-bedroom two story unfurnished apartment. I acquired a few pieces of furniture and soon begin renting out the 2 nd bedroom to fellow new Westinghouse recruits who were on monthly assignments at the Westinghouse Semiconductor Division.

Becoming established in my job, I later got the urge to build my own home. Odd for a single guy who had yet to meet his first real love. I bought 2 acres of forest land on a hill side about a mile from where I worked for $4,500. Then I contracted with the guy who built the townhouse I was living in to build my first home. As I recall, my first house cost $29,000 to build! My first house was built to look like a barn with a silo with a circular staircase inside. I remember having to go to two different banks in search of

a bank loan as the first bank was not keen on loaning money to a bachelor who wanted to build a barn for a house! After the house was completed, I moved in, and I began acquiring antiques and advertising signs
