ROLES WE'LL NEVER PLAY Artistic Director ~ Lewis Baron Musical Director ~ Ben Evans-Clarke Together for Theatre Production s Thank you for my nice warm greeting at this small but atmospheric theatre. The size of the theatre did not equate to what you presented… The stage was initially hidden by closed front black curtains. The curtains opened to display simple black tabs on the back wall and 4 microphones on stands, proportionally apart, across the front of the stage. The audience immediately showed its appreciation to their
family and friends in the cast in eager anticipation of entertainment to come. They did not disappoint as their wonderful voices were extremely accomplished in quality and tone, as were all of the cast. The variety and choice of the music and songs displayed an interesting collection from different musicals. Each team member revealed an amazing singing voice whether it was a solo, duet, trio, group or ensemble. I saw very little in the way of nerves when they performed. If there were any errors, they were well hidden. Entertainment was on their agenda and that's what we all enjoyed. There was minimal choreography and very little change of costume. Makeup and hair designs blended in. A huge proportion of the time, the singers engaged
with the audience. Closing of the eyes, I presume to feel the song within, when done briefly, enhanced the deeper interpretation of the song. On the few occasions when it occurred, and the closed eyes were maintained, it made me personally feel a little disengaged and distant, instead
