ACT Reviews 2022-2023 Season

Flick, and we must not forgetting Helga obeying his every fetish whim. Garry Blair and Jeanette Thornley recreated their amusing antics. Deliberately awful cabaret singing by Mrs René, Edith was entertainingly carried off by Anita Partridge. John Partridge brought experience to role of Leclerc - he is destined to play parts including parrots, good fun. Rene’s waitress Mimi (Cath Williams) and his other lover, Yvette who uses her charms to raise money for her sick mother, was Oooh-la-la’d by Debbie Dickerson. Debbie, as the sexy character, made Yvette’s her own “Ooooh, Rene!” Chris Silke played the put–upon cafe owner, Rene Artois who is a self confessed coward caught up between the Resistance, the Nazis and his love life. Chris put so much effort into portraying René: he caught the essence of the character moving easily from dialogue to direct narration. The audience lost themselves in the farce becoming happy, laughing and it is to be hoped, the next production’s audience.
