1272 1948 (11 Aug.) An air mail Gold Yuan cover from Shanghai to Zurich, Switzerland. Tied by bilingual Postage Meter $5550,000. Showing the scarce ‘Postage Paid/No.4/U2’ meter mark in red. At left edge, handstamped ‘40377*18.VIII.48.3-4’ arrival marking in black straight. The international airmail postage rate was $150,000 for surface and $400,000 for airmail.
