A Large Dragon cover back, bearing Large Dragon thin paper 3 cands brown red vertical strip of 3, tied by ‘TIENTSIN’Antique type seal chop in black, alongside with a Large Dragon wide margin 5 cands yellow chrome (cut in half), tied by full strike of ‘CUSTOMS/TIENTSIN/20.12.82’ cds. With BPA cert. 2000. Photo The normal postage rate for covers to Europe was 9 candarins, however from 15 November 1879 the postage rate for letters passing through Italy to Europe was changed to 11 candarins. The 5 candarins may have been cut in half and used as postage because the post master no longer had any 1 candarin stamps left to make up the 11 candarins postage rate. This is an interesting and unique piece with a Large Dragon stamp cut in half used on cover. HK$ 1,200,000 - 1,600,000
