505 1902 (6 Aug.) A mixed franking red band cover from Kiaochow reg. to Lichtenthal, bearing Dowager first printing 9 cands dull green block of 4 with tête-beche, and vertically imperforate between varieties (Chan 28u) tied by bilingual ‘KIAOCHOW’ cds, alongside Kiautschou yatch 10p and 50p tied by ‘TSINGTAU’ Gr.P.O cds. on reverse with ‘BADEN/12.9.02’ transit and ‘LICHTENTHAL/12.9.02’ arrival cds, very fine and extremely rare. Photo There are only 3 recorded blocks of four with the tête-beche variety imperforate between. One mint block previously sold by Zurich Asia in June 2003 and April 2013 (HK$690,000); one used block; and this is the only block used on cover. HK$ 600,000 - 700,000
