1069 1949 (23 May) A Silver Yuan mixed franking cover registered to Chungking, on front bearing Unit stamps, Domestic Ordinary, tied by char. 'PINGPA' cds, and bilingual 'CHUNGKING/26.5.49' arrival cds. on reverse bearing Gold Yuan SYS Shanghai Dah Tung print $10,000 and Gold Yuan surcharged $50,000 on $20,000 on SYS Shanghai Dah Tung print, tied by the same cds, with complete reg. receipt attached on reverse. Obviously there are stamps missing because of the Gold Yuan $60,000 would not be adequate to pay for the Silver Yuan 12c registered postage. From the collection of Patrick Choy.
