1078 1949 (28 June) An air mail Silver Yuan cover to Kweiyang, on reverse bearing Kwangtung overprinted on Revenue stamps as Domestic Ordinary Mail in pair, and meter stamp ‘2c/ 穗(四 )/Postage Paid/CANTON’, both tied by bilingual ‘CANTON’ cds, total value 10c in which is equal to Domestic air mail rate. Officially the franking machine starting operating on 2nd July 1949. This is the only cover recorded to prove that the machine had started four days early. From the collection of Patrick Choy.
