The grassland is an interesting area in which to see some of the flora, such as the Grass Aloe Aloe ecklonis , and Erythrina zeyheri , commonly known as the ‘plough-breaker’ (and in Afrikaans as the ‘ploegbreker’). Another beautiful species of wildflower to see is the Vlei Lily Crinum macowanii . The establishment of this Sanctuary in the 1970s heralded the beginning of affording the entire wetland
