Amazing memories and operating with so many of the other top Environmental NGOs and government departments at both provincial and national level, gave one insight into the challenges facing our beautiful country. Scale is very important when looking for solutions to identifying and solving problems, and after working in KNP and thinking that this was all that mattered, then having to deal with national issues, I was about to have my horizons broadened beyond measure, realizing there was a whole world out there that needed our help.

The Jock Safari Lodge did become very popular and is continuing today as a favourite destination, along with many other concession areas in the KNP. After leaving the KNP, we bought and ran a guest house in Pietermaritzburg called 'Shady Acres' on Old Howick Road. We opened a Bistro Restaurant in Hilton called 'The Sticky Fig' and after spending two years lecturing a Game Rangers and Lodge Management course at Damelin in Durban, commuting between Durban and Hilton every day, I was appointed
