There was however a Tawny Eagle seen last year, near the Vlei area & also listen for Red-chested Flufftail near the Vlei, from the tar road. Striped pipits & Rock Martins can be seen going up the steep tar road before the top of the mountain. Eastern Long -billed Larks, Mountain Wheatear, Long-billed Pipit, Temminck’s Courser & Cape Bunting can be seen near Mushroom Rocks. This road is closed to the public but access can be arranged with Kgaswane Reserve.Also look for a single male White-bellied Bustard from the tar road just past the Mushroom Rocks turn off. This reserve is easily accessible by normal vehicle and if there are time constraints it is the best way to see part of the mountain.
