WESSA Annual Report 2023-2024

Human Resources W WESSA’s Human Resources vision is focused on empowering people. We aim to foster a workspace where passion, innovation, and collaboration thrive, creating a positive impact both within our organisation and in the communities we serve. Our mission is to attract, develop, and retain exceptional talent through strategic talent management and a commitment to employee well-being.

In September 2023, all WESSA employees became official members of the organisation, further reinforcing our commitment to the vision of One WESSA. This membership initiative also included an invitation for all employees to participate in the AGM, providing them with a greater sense of ownership and involvement in the organisation’s governance. Strengthening unity through Membership In July 2023, our senior leadership team gathered at uMngeni Valley Nature Reserve and Education Centre for a two-day session focused on setting goals, strategic implementation, and leadership development. Facilitated by Janssen Davies, the meeting also included a membership representative gathering to strengthen internal relationships and reinforce the unity of One WESSA. Leadership development and strategic planning Reflecting on the past year, we are proud to share some key highlights that demonstrate our commitment to our people and our impact.

Leadership transition

While we bid farewell to Helena Atkinson as CEO, we are thrilled to support Cindy Lee Cloete in her new role as Acting CEO. Cindy has been a dynamic and highly skilled member of the WESSA team, consistently demonstrating her dedication to educating, advocating, and acting on behalf of people and the planet. We are confident that under her leadership, WESSA will continue to reach new heights.
