About the Author: Murray “Andy” Anderson retired as an Assistant Police Chief with the Phoenix Police Department after 37 years and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy Class 183. During his career in law enforcement, he has shown his tremendous leadership by serving in many positions which ranged from serving as an undercover narcotics officer to Chief of Investiga- tions, Patrol and Professional Standards. He also held positions with basic and advanced training at the Acad- emy, drug and property investigations, media relations, public affairs, and community relations. After retiring, Andy founded Police Advisory Services and serves as the principal consultant, lending his expert testimony for all areas of law enforcement. He is also a member of the FBINAA Speakers Bureau. Andy's experience with secondary employment work spans across every level of policing. As with most officers, Andy worked off duty jobs. As he worked up the ranks past Sergeant, Andy transitioned from primarily working off duty jobs to primarily managing and supervising off duty jobs. As the chief of internal affairs, Andy spent years overseeing investigations related to secondary employment work. Today Andy works as a consultant for attorneys defending officers in court and acts as an expert witness for police matters including secondary employment detail. There are few with the same keen understanding of the nature of secondary employment work. Andy graduated from the University of Phoenix with a BA degree in Business Management and from Arizona State University as a Certified Public Manager. Andy always strives for educating and upholding the most dedication for the entire law enforcement community.
