About the Authors: Dr. Richard Selden is responsible for the conception and development of the ANDE Rapid DNA system, the first and only such system to receive FBI National DNA Index Ap- proval. He founded ANDE in 2004 with a vision to move DNA analysis from sophisticated laboratories to the field, where it could have daily impact on fo- rensic identification in military, law en- forcement, and homeland security appli- cations. Since then, he has worked closely with thought leaders in the FBI, DoD, and DHS to define system requirements
and Rapid DNA ConOps. He received his BA degree from Harvard Col- lege, MA and PhD degrees in Genetics from the Harvard Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, and MD from Harvard Medical School. He trained as a pediatrician at the Massachusetts General Hospital and served as an Instructor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. He is the author of 38 peer-reviewed publications and the inventor of 43 US patents.
James H. Davis is the vice president of Government Affairs for ANDE. He has a long a storied career in Colorado work- ing with public safety and risk solutions. Prior to that, after 26 years, Jim retired as a Special Agent with the FBI with career highlights that include FBI team respon- sible for the initial processing of Saddam Hussein after his capture in December 2003.
