Although designed to work with the Lascells ripple tank, allowing a quick measurement of strobe frequency, the unit can also work other strobe light sources. To use, simply turn the device on, place it onto a closed mini ripple tank or facing a strobe light source and the frequency of the strobe will be displayed. The device is accurate from 1 Hz to 1 kHz (which exceeds the strobe range of a Lascells ripple tank). Comes with rubber feet to protect ripple tank top surface and is supplied with full instructions. Just connect a laboratory signal generator (not included) to the 4mm sockets of the integral vibration transducer, adjust the tension in the string to the required value by sliding the spring balance assembly and away you go. As the frequency of the generator is varied the first harmonic can be found and then all the others up to the 7th or 8th. The string length can be easily varied if required by moving the end peg and the main arm can be detached if required to facilitate storage.
