Nele Serpieters (1964) is a very driven artist, everything in her life revolves around art. Creating a piece of art is like creating a new world to her. She enjoys every stage of the process. Today she studies sculpting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Koksijde. Exclusively for Gardeco, Nele Serpieters created ‘Modest’. Her work consists of whimsical sculptures with their own intimate language. The sculpture departs from organic shapes, sometimes body parts, that are composed in a way that they have an estranging effect. The work intrigues, it is not what it seems and it makes the viewer reflect on shape and substance, beauty and decay.
