M r . W illiam X . W h ite , Solicitor, died at his resi­ dence, Park Villas, Portlaoise, on the 20th January, 1954. Mr. White served his apprenticeship with Mr. William Roche 4 St. Stephens Green Dublin, was admitted in Hilary Sittings, 1894, and practised at Portlaoise. M r . S harman C. R oss , Solicitor, died at his resi­ dence, Liscarney, Monaghan. Mr. Ross served his apprenticeship with the late Mr. James H. Ross, Solicitor, Monaghan, was admitted in Hilary Sittings, 19 31, and practised at Glaslough, Co. Monaghan. M r . J ames J . M ooney , Solicitor, died on the 6th February, 1954. Mr. Mooney served his apprenticeship with the late Mr. Frederick W. Wynne, Solicitor, Cork, was admitted in Michaelmas Sittings, 1906, and practised as senior partner in the firm o f Messrs. Babington Clarke & Mooney, Cork.

M r . W illiam K in g , Solicitor, died on the 20th August, 1953. Mr. King served his apprenticeship with the late Mr. I. J. Trew Colquhon, Solicitor, and was admitted in Trinity Sittings, 1905. M r . T homas M c C omb , Solicitor, died on the 27th August, 1953. Mr. McComb served his apprenticeship with the late Mr. Francis Joseph Bigger, Solicitor, and was admitted in Trinity Sittings, 1914. M r . H ugh M c I lroy , Solicitor, died on the 28th August, 1953. Mr. McIlroy served his apprenticeship with Mr. Walter Smyth, Solicitor, 17 Arthur Street Belfast, and was admitted in Hilary Sittings, 1899, M r . J ohn B othwell M c C utcheon , Solicitor, died on the 19th November, 1953. THE SOLICITORS’ BENEVOLENT ASSOCIATION The Association, which operates throughout the whole o f Ireland, cares for Solicitors, their wives, widows and families, who have fallen on hard times. Last year over £1,300 was distributed in relief. Additional subscriptions, donations and bequests are urgently needed to continue and extend the Association’s work.
