Course C. Conveyancing and General Office Practice, 50 lectures. The rights, duties and responsibilities o f solicitors, 4 lectures. Lectures will be delivered as follows :— Michaelmas Sittings 18 ; Hilary Sittings 24; Easter Sittings 12 ; Minimum attendance for credit is Michaelmas—-14; Hilary— 18 ; Easter—9. An apprentice to obtain credit must attend at least 3 o f the 4 lectures on rights, duties and responsibili­ ties o f solicitors. Lectures each Tuesday and Saturday at 9 a.m. save where otherwise notified. Course D. General office practice, (taxation with special reference to death duties). 50 lectures. The lectures will be delivered as follows :— Michaelmas Sittings 1 8 ; Hilary Sittings 2 2 ; Easter Sittings 1 0 ; Minimum attendance for credit is, Michaelmas— 14 ; Hilary— 17 ; Easter—7. Lec­ tures each Monday at 9 a.m. and Saturday at 10.15 a-m., save where otherwise notified. The lecturer will not necessarily undertake to cover the entire field in each subject, or lecture out o f any particular text book. He will advise the class as to its reading and will assume that each student will have read on the fines advised, in advance o f each lecture, on the subject matter o f the lecture. The aim o f lectures wifi be to guide students in their work and to illustrate, explain and supplement their reading. A written examination will be held at the end of each term’s lectures. Course A must be completed before either Course B, C, or D is commenced. Courses A , B, C and D are obligatory for all apprentices, but an apprentice who has attended and obtained credit tor Courses A , B , and C while eligible to attend Course D on payment o f the prescribed fee, will not be required to attend these lectures. The Council were o f the opinion that as member asked for the report and did not inform the doctor that he would not accept liability for the fee, it ought to have been provided for in the settlement and that accordingly member was professionally liable to pay the doctor’s fee for the examination and report, which was carried out and furnished on his instructions. T he Council considered a draft o f a statement sub­ mitted by a Committee for publication in the Society’s Gazette, and referred it back to the Committee for further consideration. Labourers’ Acts. Costs. T he Council were informed that Mr. Patrick O’Donnell, T.D ., the Minister for Local Govern­ ment had agreed to receive a deputation from the Society on the subject o f the present scale o f costs allowed under the Labourers’ (Ireland) Acts. A deputation was appointed to attend at the Department to submitt he Society’s case to the Minister. LECTURER ON TAXATION. M r . V incent G rogan , M .A., B .L ., has been appointed as lecturer on Taxation, with special reference to death duties. The new Course of lectures which is obligatory for all apprentices who have not already completed attendance at Courses A , B, and C and obtained credit therefor, will commence on 4th October.
