The following was among the business transacted : Arrears o f business in the High Court : The following motion was passed. (1) “ That we the Council o f the Incorporated Law Society view with the most grave concern the present very serious position of arrears and congestion in the High Court List, which has now become a grievous

hardship to litigants throughout the country, and a very substantial impediment to the administration o f Justice, and which we are aware is now becoming rapidly and pro­ gressively worse. (2) “ That we hereby record our strong recom­ mendation to the Government for the immediate appointment o f an additional High Court Judge as an essential remedy for the present situation and as a preventi- tive against its deterioration in the present altered conditions. (3) “ And we further recommend that to provide for the future more efficient administration o f Justice in the High Court the following alterations be put into effect. “ (a) The earlier commencement o f the Michaelmas Sittings. “ (b) The abolition o f the Whitsuntide Vacation. “ (c) The alteration o f the July High Court on Circuit Sittings to Octo­ ber.”
